Blackpool has a broad history as being a town of showbiz, from Sinatra to The Beatles, Blackpool is famous for hosting some of the world’s best events. It is home to one of Britain’s biggest TV shows – Strictly Come Dancing and is also recognised as the heart for the annual World Matchplay Darts Championship. Excursion Highlights
Southport
Delightful parks, a fabulous Marine Lake and one of the longest piers in Britain make Southport a perfect resort town. Wide unspoiled beaches and splendid sand hills constitute one of the most important areas for nature conservation in the UK. Lord Street, with its beautiful cast iron canopies and wide pavements, is home to delightful cafés and many restaurants.
Ribble Valley & Oswaldtwistle Mills
Take a guided tour through the Ribble Valley and visit Clitheroe, Chatburn and Downham (guided tour included in tour cost). Hear tales of the infamous 17th Century trial and execution of the Pendle Witches and learn about the Sabden Treacle Mines. We visit Oswaldtwistle Mills shopping village and return by the ‘Nick of Pendle’ road to Blackpool.
Lake Windermere Cruise & Grasmere
From the southern end of Lake Windermere we take a trip on the lake (fare included in the tour cost). Enjoy unique views of the lake-side mountains and fells. Our boat lands at Bowness-on-Windermere, once a fishing village, now a major tourism hub. The Armitt Museum houses literary collections and artefacts from the lives of Lake District writers (entry fee applies).
