Discover the Isle Of Man

Resort - Douglas

Overview

The Isle of Man’s scenery combines a beautiful coastline of sandy beaches and rocky points with a mountainous interior which is never more than a few minutes' drive away. The architecture in Douglas is predominantly Victorian but in the villages and towns elsewhere on the island there is a rich cultural heritage of harbours and castles, with many traces of ancient Viking and Celtic history. Douglas has many shops and entertainments including two modern shopping malls, a theatre, nightclubs, discos, cinemas, ten pin bowling and a casino. But it is above all the relaxed pace of life, the warm friendly welcome and the reminders of a less hectic age which most visitors recall as they look back on their stay on this wonderful island.

Day 1 - Outward Travel

Day 2 - Northern Island Tour – Ramsey & Peel

  • The northern areas of the Isle of Man have a different feel with picturesque villages, winding country lanes and miles and miles of unspoilt beaches. We head to Ramsey, which always makes a dramatic impression and is built around a large harbour on the estuary of the Sulby River. We also call at Peel – the largest town on the west coast and home to some of the island’s finest beaches. Golden sands give way to sheer cliffs and Peel Castle is undoubtedly the town’s main highlight.

Day 3 - Day at Leisure

Day 4 - Southern Island Tour - Port Erin, Castletown & The Sound

  • Discover the southern areas of the island today as we visit Port Erin, a popular destination since Victorian times thanks to a beautiful sheltered bay and fine sandy beach. We then make our way to The Sound where you can admire the views across to the Calf of Man and spot seals in the surrounding waters and then onto Castletown. The former capital of the island, the castle dominates the town and there is an impressive selection of shops and restaurants in its narrow winding streets.

Day 5 - Return Travel

Chesterhouse Hotel

Located on the seafront and close to the town centre of Douglas, The Chesterhouse offer spacious bedrooms, entertainment in the resident’s bar and the restaurant serves delicious meals and hearty Manx breakfasts.
