Glorious Lake District

Resort - Morecambe

Overview

There is no better way to end a day exploring the Lake District than to enjoy the views of the Lake District hills across Morecambe Bay as the sun sets over the Bay – one of England’s most memorable sights. The Lake District is England’s largest National Park and has inspired more poetry than any other area of English landscape. Both Wordsworth and Coleridge lived and worked here for a time and every corner provides a new and enticing vista. The scenery is often seen at its best from the water and in this fascinating holiday we have trips on the two largest lakes, Windermere and Ullswater to complement the views across Morecambe Bay.

This elegant town was a fashionable seaside resort in its heyday, and today it’s Victorian and Edwardian influences are still evident in its beautiful architecture. We continue on to visit Ulverston – a fine market town with a labyrinth of cobbled street, birthplace of Stan Laurel and home to the ancient St Mary’s Church which dates back to AD 1111.
