Welsh Highland Railway & Canal Cruise

Resort - Llandudno

Overview

Situated on a sandy isthmus between the Great Orme and Little Orme Heads, Llandudno boasts two superb beaches. The shingly North Shore is the busier of the two with its Victorian Pier, boat trips, donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows and much more. The sandy West Shore is quieter with miles of sands and panoramic views of the Snowdonia mountain range in the distance. Llandudno is a highly attractive resort with its magnificent crescent of hotels, broad tree-lined streets and elegant shops all combining to produce a unique atmosphere. There are two golf courses. A tramway and cable car both offer a route to the summit of the Great Orme (which also boasts a superb dry ski slope - one of the best in Britain). There is plenty to do both by day and by night and you are sure never to have a dull moment at what many would claim to be the most complete of all British holiday resorts.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Outward Travel

Day 2 - Llangollen & Horse Drawn Barge

  • Travelling over the scenic Horseshoe Pass, we make our way to the market town of Llangollen set on the banks of the River Dee. Surrounded by wooded hills, take a stroll along the Victoria Promenade, enjoy the delights of Riverside Park or enjoy the bustle of the shops and cafes. Later in the day we join a delightful horse-drawn barge cruise along the canal – this is a wonderfully tranquil way to take in the surrounding flora and fauna.

Day 3 - Day at Leisure

Day 4 - Welsh Highland Railway & Porthmadog

  • Enjoy a journey aboard the Welsh Highland Railway, the UK's longest heritage railway which runs from historic Caernarfon to pretty Porthmadog. The route zig zags through the hills and mountains of Snowdonia National Park and travels over the magnificent Aberglaslyn Pass - voted the most beautiful place in the UK by National Trust members. A truly memorable experience. We'll also have some free time in Porthmadog to explore - an important hub for the historic railways that lead to the development of this harbour town.

Day 5 - Return Travel

Hydro Hotel

Situated on the Llandudno promenade, the hotel is just a short walk from the resorts shopping area, traditional pier, Happy Valley Botanical Gardens, cable car and Great Orme Tramway. We are members of the Confederation of Passenger Transport and the Coach Tourism Association – bodies established to encourage standards of excellence in our industry.
